As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The ḥadīth you shared is found in Jāmiʿ al- Ṣaghīr and Mustadrak of Imām Ḥākim. It states that Rasūlullāh ﷺ prohibited a person from sitting between the sun and shade – part of his body is in the shade, and part of his body is in the sun. The commentators of the ḥadīth state that it is harmful to the body to do so.

They also state that it demonstrates the amount of love Rasūlullāh ﷺ had for justice. He ﷺ would emphasize justice so much that he instructed his followers to apply this concept to their own body by not favoring one limb over another. If this is the emphasis given to justice with ourselves, imagine the level of importance assigned to justice with others.

Allāh instructs us:

“Accept whatever the Messenger gives you, and refrain from whatever he forbids you. And fear Allāh: verily Allāh is Most Stern in retribution.” (59:7)

“Say Tell people: ‘If you love Allāh, follow me, and Allāh will love you and will forgive your sins. Allāh is All-Forgiving, Perpetually Merciful.” (3:31)

“Surely, in the Messenger of Allāh,  there is the best example for all those who have hope in

Allāh and the Last Day and remember Allāh abundantly.” (33:21)

We should strive to follow the instructions of Rasūlullāh ﷺ in all aspects of life.
